About This Spot

Walking into Klobasarna, you immediately sense a rhythm that’s both unhurried and comforting, nestled right in the heart of Ljubljana’s old town. This spot isn’t about spacious dining or long leisurely meals; it’s a modest, honest eatery where locals and travelers alike find a brief yet memorable pause in their day. With just a handful of chairs and bar stools pressed close, the atmosphere feels intimate, a shared experience in savoring simple Slovenian traditions.

The air carries the inviting warmth of slow-simmered barley stew blending with the spicy, smoky scent of sausages cooking fresh to order. There’s a quiet joy here in watching how the savory flavors—rich, homey, and deeply rooted in local heritage—are presented with no pretense but plenty of care. Whether it’s the famed Kranjska Klobasa served alongside tangy mustard and horseradish or a delicate portion of štruklji, every bite tells a story of place and time.

Even when rain clouds drape Ljubljana’s streets, Klobasarna offers a welcome refuge—a small, bustling nook where a steaming bowl or a flavorful sausage paired with a craft IPA can quietly lift the soul. It’s not just a spot for quick bites; it’s a gateway into the tastes and textures that color everyday life here, served with a kind of warmth that makes the city’s history and community feel close and tangible.

Finding a seat can be a serendipitous moment, and the steady hum of conversation, the friendly exchanges of the staff, and the flow of locals popping in and out all add to a subtle pulse that’s part of the experience. Klobasarna invites you to slow down just enough, taste deeply, and feel the honest pleasure of Slovenian comfort food on a simple plate.

We went to this place after having seen many YouTube videos where they recommended this place. The sausage was really tasty and was served with two pieces of buns, grainy mustard and horseradish dip. The Istrian soup was also nice (I'm guessing it was with sauerkraut). We also tried the štruklji and it was not bad but it's not my kind of food .

A small shop with a limited selection of soups, sausages and štruklji. Inside, there are only 3 chairs and 5 bar stools, and space is limited. The staff was very friendly, patient and efficient.

It was my first time in Slovenia. The weather was rainy. Sometimes very rainy. But I wanted to see old town in Ljubljana and eat local food. I was glad when found Klobasarna on google map. Simple and tasty food from this place warmed me up. I ordered one more portion with great pleasure. Totally recommend.

The most iconic sausage shop in Ljubljana Stopped by as soon as I arrived in Ljubljana. To dodge the crowds, I came just after opening and was one of only two groups eating there. The only downside of coming early was that every passing tour guide stopped in front of the shop to announce it as the most famous Klobasa spot in town, so there was no pretending this was a hidden gem. The food came out quickly, and there were plenty of outdoor tables to enjoy it (though they fill up completely by the afternoon). I ordered a half Klobasa, barley stew, and sweet rolls. It was a chilly morning, and dipping the sausage into the warm barley stew was pure comfort. The sweet rolls weren’t quite my thing (very chewy, almost like sticky rice) but the stew and Klobasa combo made the stop worth it.

Nice place for fast food in Ljubljana! Traditional dishes and quick service. You need some luck to find a table

1 | A family-run spot and a paradise for sausage lovers. I tried the sausage with mustard, horseradish, and bread, and it was really good. I expected it to be grilled, but it was boiled. Still, it was high quality and packed with meat. 2 | An interesting detail is that the place is owned by a family who ran a watchmaking business on the same site for several generations. You can read their whole story on the wall next to the counter while you wait. 3 | A smaller portion (half a sausage) costs 5.50 euros, and the larger one is 9.50 euros. It comes with a brioche roll they bake themselves. They also offer a stew for 6.50 euros and a stew with sausage for 8.50 euros, which I didn’t try. 4 | The staff is kind and friendly, and you can pay by card. 5 | There’s one table inside the bistro, and you can also sit outside in front of the place or stand at the counter.

A very small shop/restaurant/stand making the famous sausage. We tried sausage and it tasted really nice, I can suggest for visitors. Also they had soup with the susage as an option. Indoor sitting area is very small but the stand outside can also be used.

I loved this place so much I ate there 4 times in a week! The klobasa sausages are big and delicious. The jota , which is a sauerkraut stew was so appetizing, and goes perfectly with the sausages. I also loved the barley soup. It was extremely comforting on a cold winter afternoon. The sausages come with fresh bread, mustard and horseradish , all undeniably perfect condiments. It’s what I’d miss most leaving Ljubljana!!
